Quality and biome origin
Ores are stamped with the biome they were mined in. A diamond pulled from a glacial peak forges differently than one from the deep dark, and that origin feeds into the stats of the finished gear.
Survival, reforged.
A handcrafted survival server with real depth. Forge your own weapons and armour, explore a living world, build with your faction, and play together whether you are on Java or Bedrock.
Blacklight is a survival SMP built from the ground up to give vanilla Minecraft a real sense of progression. You mine ores that remember the biome they came from, forge them into weapons and armour with their own quality and stats, claim ancient ruins, navigate by the stars, and trade in a player driven economy.
It runs on Paper for Minecraft 26.1.2 with Terralith world generation, and Java and Bedrock players share the exact same world. Everything you read about here is a custom system written for this server, not a pile of off the shelf plugins.
Thanks to Geyser and Floodgate, Blacklight welcomes both editions on the same map. Play on PC, console, phone or tablet with the same economy, the same friends and the same progress. Every menu and chat message has a Bedrock friendly version, so nothing is ever locked behind Java only controls.

Real smithing, not a crafting grid. Build a multiblock forge, bring your metal up to heat, strike it into shape on the anvil, and quench it at just the right moment. Every piece you make carries its own quality, material and origin, so no two blades are ever quite the same.
Fire up the forge and watch the heat stages climb. Too cold and the metal will not move, too hot and you ruin the batch.
Swing your Forge Hammer to shape the piece. Good timing builds progress and pushes the quality higher with every hit.
Finish in water, oil or brine. Each one pulls the result in a different direction and locks in the final quality tier.
Ores are stamped with the biome they were mined in. A diamond pulled from a glacial peak forges differently than one from the deep dark, and that origin feeds into the stats of the finished gear.
Slot up to three gems into a weapon or tool. Echo crystals, void shards, pearl cores, rubies, sapphires and emeralds each tune your gear toward a different build.
Engrave runes of flame, frost, ward, void, echo, poison or lightning for raw power. Push too far and instability and corruption start to creep in, so every rune is a gamble worth weighing.
Repair restores durability for a cost and slowly wears down the repair cap. Reforge rerolls the quality entirely, but it can shatter your sockets and runes in the process.
Assemble an altar, complete the ritual without interruption, and bind a true relic. These are the rarest pieces of gear the server can produce.
Every forged item remembers who made it, what it is made of, how it was quenched and the quality it earned. Your best work becomes a name people recognise.
Dozens of unique weapons, tools and armour pieces, each with its own custom model from the Blacklight resource pack. Find the style that fits the way you fight and mine.
The resource pack is optional. If you skip it the gear still works exactly the same, you just see vanilla models instead of the custom ones.
Blacklight adds a whole shelf of craftable items on top of vanilla. Two of them start your smithing journey, and the rest open up exploration, travel and quality of life.
Shaped recipe
Your main smithing tool. Strike heated metal on the anvil to shape it and raise its quality.
Shapeless recipe
One of the three quench options. Oil pulls the result toward a different quality profile than water or brine.
Read the night sky and get a bearing to the nearest ancient ruin.
Opens an Expedition for your party, and is used up when you enter.
Survey the land and place waypoint markers as you go.
Pin a spot to your map so you can always find your way back.
Tune into nearby rifts and track their shards.
Bind a home and warp back to it later.
Recover a grave that is not your own when you are allowed to.
Stake your claim on an ancient ruin.
Brewed from the glow flowers found in hidden groves.
A grove crafted light with a little ambient magic.
Enchanted books that push your mining tools past the vanilla Efficiency cap.
A five piece golden set (sword, axe, pickaxe, shovel, hoe), each unbreakable.
There is plenty more in the recipe book too: stackable half slabs for loads of block families, handy block conversions, a light block, custom sandwiches and a rename voucher.
The world rewards the curious. The aurora shimmering behind this page is a real in game effect, so the sky you see here is the sky you will see on the server.
Track down crumbling ruins, read their lore tablets, and claim one to earn a steady passive income. Hold it against anyone who wants it for themselves.
Unstable rifts tear open across the map. Fight the mobs that pour out and gather rift shards and fragments across rising tiers of difficulty.
Craft an astrolabe, gaze up at the stars, and read a true bearing toward the nearest ancient ruin. Old school navigation with a magical twist.
Stumble into hidden groves of glow flowers, each with their own events and the ingredients for grove potions and candles.
Build cartographer tools, drop waypoint markers as you travel, and pin your maps onto shared map boards back at base.
The world breathes. Northern light auroras, glowing oceans, drifting fireflies, cherry petals on the wind, and the heavy dread of the deep dark.
Blacklight runs on Terralith world generation, so the biomes are dramatic and varied. And because the forge cares where your metal came from, the ground you stand on actually matters.
Break an ore and it remembers its home biome. Volcanic regions might give you extra quartz, glacial peaks can drop a bonus diamond, amethyst fields shed shards, mountains offer emeralds, and lush forests sometimes hand you a second helping. That stamp follows the metal all the way to the anvil and shapes the gear you forge from it.
Northern lights ripple over the night sky.
The water glows after dark.
Tiny lights drift through the marshes.
Grass and petals move with the breeze.
Sparks rise from the burning wastes.
Pink blossom falls in cherry groves.
A heavy, watchful quiet in the dark below.
Coins flow through everything on Blacklight, from player markets to forge repairs. Pick a job, get good at it, and turn that into real spending power.
Earn, pay and trade with a clean coin economy. Send money to friends, climb the balance leaderboard, and spend at the admin shop or in the player run market.
Choose a job and earn experience as you play. Level up through ranks, unlock mastery and secondary traits, and gain active abilities that change how you work.
Spend your earnings on buffs: combat lifesteal, double drops, faster crops, safer falls, quicker travel, cheaper market fees and faction wide territory perks.
Team up, carve out territory, and build an economy around it. Blacklight gives groups real tools to run their corner of the world.
Found a faction and invite your friends. Claim and protect your land, set faction homes, pool coins in a shared treasury, hand out ranks, and declare war or settle peace with your neighbours. Many buffs can be shared across the whole faction.
Buy staples from the admin shop, or list your own goods on the player market for the price you choose. Factions can run their own regional shops with their own tax, complete with floating holograms so buyers can find them.
Talk globally, keep it local to the people nearby, or switch to faction and ally channels for team coordination. Staff have their own channel, and an optional profanity filter keeps things tidy.
Survival should be challenging, not annoying. Blacklight smooths out the rough edges so you can spend your time on the fun parts.
Build teleporter pads, link them together, and hop across the map in an instant. Set them up the way you want and manage who gets to use them.
Die and your items wait for you in a grave instead of scattering everywhere. Walk back, open it, and pick your gear back up. Factions can be allowed to recover yours too.
Right click a slab or half-block to take a seat. Perfect for catching your breath, posing for a screenshot, or just hanging out at base.
A proper spawn screen welcomes new players and eases returning ones back in, with a quick teleport to spawn whenever the rules allow.
An optional pack adds bespoke models for every forged weapon, tool, gem and rune. Skip it if you like and nothing breaks, you just see vanilla models.
Open a clean profile screen to check stats and details at a glance, built to work the same on Java and Bedrock.
Our biggest feature is still in the forge. Expeditions will let you form a party, use a Dungeon Compass to open a private instance built just for your group, and drop in together (the compass is used up when your party enters). Think combat rooms, lever and riddle puzzles, one time loot vaults, and named bosses waiting at the bottom.
Planned bosses Abyssal Hydra Crypt Sentinel Grave Knight Voidweaver Warden
Expeditions are not part of the launch. We want them to be excellent before they go live, so keep an eye on Discord for the reveal.

Yes. Java and Bedrock players share the same world through Geyser and Floodgate, so you can join on PC, console, phone or tablet.
The server runs on Paper for Minecraft 26.1.2. Use a matching Java or Bedrock client and you are good to go.
Completely free. Voting is optional and simply rewards you with vote tokens, streak bonuses and boosts.
It is recommended for the custom item models, but everything works without it. The gameplay never depends on the pack being loaded.
Instead of a crafting grid, you build a real multiblock forge, heat your metal, strike it on the anvil and quench it. The result is gear with its own quality, gems, runes and history.
Not yet. The Expeditions dungeon system is coming after launch. We want it to be excellent before it goes live, so watch Discord for the reveal.
